The major first rule of sea diving is never to take a sea dive alone, this is because you must have an instructor to guide you through the dangers.
ONLY if this can be APPLIED to the way we make use of water and also disposal of our waste product.
It will be of great danger if we take our environments out of the equation in getting good clean water; this is because they are interwoven.
The cry of good clean water is not a new gist to be sold in most nations daily news papers.
Day in Day out the people of Africa always have a story to say in the daily pursue of a good clean water.
As we all know, this is
a period to appreciate every drop of water and to reflect on the positive
potential, discovery that as to be made from this liquid substance.
To get a clean water is
now becoming difficult as environmental pollution is fast growing, suffocating
the existence of clean water. Two major causes of water pollution are
urbanization and oil spills and this two major pollution surrounds Africa.
If we are to preview
this two major reasons. We will see that urbanization is fast increasing in our
major cities in Africa. The demand for food supply is also fast growing due to
the population increase from immigrant. In keeping up to this high demands, the
use of fertilizer and sewage contaminate is very much needed, as a result to
the nitrates and phosphates found in fertilizers and sewage wastes, this causes
eutrophication which are harmful to the environment.
On the other hand oil
spills is also infiltrating normal livelihood of water supply; in a country
like Nigeria which deal with major oil drilling, oil spillage and oil product
causes environmental disaster, as there are various spillage and vandalization of
pipe network while transferring oil products.
Also natural location
of some country like South Africa, which is situated at the very tip of
southern Africa, this enable the country to be very vulnerable to oil spills
because of the high levels of oil been transported from the middle east to
Europe and America along the coast, making southern African’s water and
ecosystem at risk to several damage.
In conclusion there are
many reasons that contribute to these growing water cresses that Africa faces,
such as climate change; climate change has affected water supplies within must
African countries. Rains that naturally fall giving a relief to the people of
Africa this days comes infrequently, for example in Durban, the dams are 20%
lower than 4 to 5 years ago causing lower water supply rate in that part of
Africa.
Water
is life, we all know
this. No blue No Green, beautiful people must eat. Water is the only free liquid substance;
believe me unsafe harmful water will be
easier to get than fresh Cristal clear water in many years to come, if we
don’t step up individually to the day to day water polices by our action; on
how we make use of water and dispose our waste product.
My people join me in
celebrating 2014 world water day by drinking a notable amount of water today
and also reflecting individually on the present state of African water problems
of how to effect the positive change to the system.
